Fabulous Vacation House with the Natural and Artificial Barrier

Named as the Tapered House, this vacation house was intentionally built to fulfill the client’s need of a small house of a comfy residence to enjoy the vacation season. Designed by Index Architecture, this private residency has been accomplished in 2012 which sited in Shunde, China. The client is a fan of Bruce Lee; thus the memorabilia collection of Bruce Lee will be the accent in this occupancy.

This vacation house design tapers the trapezoidal size with the range of 670 square meters from the west to the east. At the south edge of the residency you will see a miniature cliff which formed by the sharp terrain which is dropped off over thirty feet. Beyond this area you will see exclusive residential communities with the two-storey contemporary residential high rises and the vernacular house. The north part confronts the serene residential community. The house consists of two distinctive areas yet connected sections with the nature semi-public and accommodation in short-term.

The telescopic gallery space is sited along the south part to create visual magnetism which gives a statement to the edge of this area with the front landscaped garden. The use of natural light and window opening thoroughly becomes a concern to emit the displayed collections of movie poster which mostly from the first edition of Bruce Lee movies. The windows will allow you to see the distant views outside the house.

The studio is placed nearby the gallery. Placed above the double height living spaces, you will see direct access to the spacious garden from the master bedroom with textured wall. The garden is designed with the openness concept which creates balance between the sense of privacy and enclosure of natural and artificial barrier. To accentuate the Bruce Lee’s identity, the exterior made of raw board which reflects his famous belief in a statement of “being no rule is the rule and being no limit is the limits.
